If these villi become damaged in some way, such as through food allergies, bad eating habits, age, strong medications etc, the intestine has a reduced ability to produce the necessary enzymes to complete the digestion of the offending foods. This can lead to responses such as malabsorption, nutrient deficiencies, or other digestive disorders.

The main treatment for gluten or casein intolerance has been to remove offending foods from a person's diet, also known as the GFCF (gluten-free, casein-free) diet. Though effective in the short term, removing foods does not provide an ultimate solution. Once these foods are reintroduced to the diet, symptoms may return.

GlutenEase aims to provide those suffering with such intolerances assistance in digestion and assimilation of the offending proteins. Proteases (enzymes that break down proteins) assist in normalising inflammatory response to the gluten peptide, thus better digesting and utilising gluten containing foods. This can proactively support the gut, allowing proteins to be properly broken down and absorbed in their digested state; broadening the potential food groups a person may eat.
