The thyroid gland is under direct control of the brain via the neurohormone, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). TSH itself is under the control of Thyrotrophin Releasing Hormone (TRH). TSH stimulates production of the thyroid hormones and also sustains the thyroid gland cells.
The thyroid hormone mixture released from the gland contains primarily T4 and T3 and to a lesser extent some reverse T3 (rT3) and T2. About 93% of the thyroid hormone released from the thyroid gland is T4 and only 7% is T3. The T4 to T3 conversion in the gland is mediated by 5’-deiodinase t=type 1 enzyme.
Thro-Dyne contains botanical support for T4 and T3 conversion due to many non-nutritional factors causing a down regulation of the conversion of T4 to T3 in the liver.
